LET’S GET TO THE BOTTOM OF YOUR STRUGGLES TO PROPEL YOU TO THE TOP OF YOUR LIFE
I’m on a mission to help you identify the source of your mental health struggles and behavioral patterns that prevent you from living a fulfilling life. This clarity empowers you to make radical life changes for the better.

Multicultural counseling & Insight Psychotherapy
Our life experiences influence the way we show up, live in and experience the word. I consider the cultural background of everyone when providing services. My experience as a cisgender, African American woman, first generation college student, southeast Texas resident, and licensed psychologist has taught me that cultural competency is a huge component of therapy.
Insight therapy is applicable to individuals across cultures. This method addresses a range of mental health concerns by exploring the “why” behind our beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Insight therapy stands on the belief that past experiences shape personality and impact the way individuals show up in the world. The therapy process is very collaborative and involves deep exploration and processing. It is through this increased awareness that clients can be inspired to make healthy lifestyle changes.

Courage X Clarity specializes in treating the following:
Relationship issues
Adjustment issues
Trauma
Anxiety
Anger
Identity issues
Stress
Depression
Women’s issues
Body image dissatisfaction
LGBTQ+ issues

Yes. I offer a complimentary 20 minute phone consultation. The phone consultations are for individuals who want to “meet” or “chat” with me prior to scheduling the initial session. You can use this time to express concerns or ask clarifying questions for answers that are not found on my website. The phone consultation is not a therapy service.

You will get a response between 24-72 business hours to confirm whether or not we are a fit working together based on your form submission. I will send you an email asking if you would like schedule a 20 minute complimentary phone consultation. If you are using BlueCross BlueShield insurance as a form of payment, I will need to collect insurance information from you to verify. During the consultation, I will do a brief screening to access if we would be a good fit working together. Also, we will agree on a date and time for the initial meeting. I will then send you a link through a secure and confidential portal called Simple Practice. This portal allows you to complete all initial paperwork and will send you automatic reminders and virtual links to the appointments. I encourage all potential clients to respond to emails as quickly as possible to guarantee a time slot for therapy.

It takes great courage to make that first therapy appointment. Many people are intimidated, confused, and/or guarded by the idea of therapy. I hope I can provide as much clarity as possible for you. During the first therapy session, I will introduce myself and quickly go over the initial paperwork you completed via Simple Practice. I will ask if you have any questions about the process so far. I encourage you to write down any questions you have and bring it into your first session. Afterwards, we will discuss the reasons you are coming to therapy and goals for counseling. I will ask personal questions relating to your symptoms and coping strategies. If you are paying through insurance, I will send over a diagnosis and treatment plan as part of their paperwork.
